DetaiLED definition of pcb and function introduction of PCB
1.1 Definition of PCB
Printed Circuit Board (PCB), a basIC electronic component, is widely used in various electronic and related products. PCB (Printed Wire board) is also sometimes called PWB (Printed Wire Board). It was used more in Hong Kong, China and Japan, but now it is less and less (in fact, PCB and PWB are different). In Western countries and regions, it is generally calLED PCB, while in the East, it is called PCB according to different countries and regions. For example, in Chinese Mainland, it is now generally called printed circuit board (previously called printed circuit board), in Taiwan, it is generally called circuit board, in Japan, it is called electronic (circuit) substrate, and in South Korea, it is called substrate.
Before the emergence of PCB, the interconnection between electronIC components was directly connected by wires (we can still see the scene of wires making interconnection, such as some SIMple physical experiments). This method is time-consuming, laborious, expensive, and takes up space. So engineers CAMe up with a method of adding metal conductors to the insulating substrate as wires. Later, after continuous optimization and improvement, the PCB products seen today were formed. At present, PCB plays a leading role in the interconnection of electronic components.
Strictly speaking, PCB refers to the product of printed components, printed lines or conductive patterns formed on the insulating substrate according to the predetermined design (IEC60194); PWB refers to the product that forms the conductive pattern of connecting lines between points without printed components on the insulating substrate according to the predetermined design (IEC 60194). PCB and PWB are collectively referred to as printed boards, but sometimes PCB is used to replace PCB and PWB, and PCB and PWB are also confused.
From the definition of PCB, it can be seen that PCB involves three parts: PCB early design, mid manufacturing (including testing), and late component interconnection (assembly). From the perspective of the current industry division, these three sectors have been divided into three SMAll industries. For example, mobile phone manufacturers first design PCBs and hand them over to PCB manufacturers for production. After PCB manufacturers produce and test, they hand them over to assembly plants for assembly. Finally, mobile phone products are returned to mobile phone manufacturers (some mobile phone manufacturers also engage in their own assembly). From this concept, PCB manufacturing is a typical OEM industry. Generally speaking, PCB refers to PCB manufacturing, which will be discussed below.
1.2 Functions of PCB
PCB is the support of electronic components and the carrier of electrical connection of electronic components, which mainly plays the role of support and interconnection (also known as interconnection, but the interconnection should be more accurate, because PCB mainly plays the role of concrete, tangible connection, rather than abstract, combined into one).
From the function of PCB, the dEMIse of PCB industry is very difficult in the short and medium term, because there is no substitute for the function of PCB at present. In the face of the increasingly strict requirements of environmental protection on PCB industry, only by reducing pollution (such as developing 3D printing technology) and increasing pollution treatment (rather than simply transferring the origin) from PCB manufacturing process can the industry develop continuously and healthily.
